PR pitch reply calculator

Last updated:

Enter your monthly pitch volume to see expected replies at 47 percent versus 15 percent.

The PR Reply Rates calculator multiplies your pitch volume by two reply rates: PodPitch's 47 percent on podcast pitches and the 15 percent industry average cited for Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater and Qwoted. The difference is the number of extra conversations a higher reply rate could open each month.

Assumptions

How does the calculator work?

Expected replies equal pitches sent multiplied by the reply rate, rounded to the nearest whole reply. The calculator uses exactly two rates and nothing else:

  • 47 percent: PodPitch's reply rate on podcast pitches.
  • 15 percent: the industry average cited for Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater and Qwoted.
  • Both figures are PodPitch's published figures.
  • Results are estimates. Real reply rates vary with list fit, pitch quality and follow up.
  • Replies are not placements; a reply can be a yes, a no or a request for more detail.

FAQ

Common questions

How do I calculate my own pitch reply rate?
Divide the number of pitches that received a reply by the total number of pitches sent, then multiply by 100. Count each contact once per campaign so follow ups do not inflate the total. For example, 30 replies from 200 pitches is a 15 percent reply rate. Our reply calculator runs this math for you.
How many pitches do I need to send to get 10 replies?
At PodPitch’s 47 percent podcast pitch reply rate, about 22 pitches would be expected to return 10 replies. At the 15 percent industry average, you would need about 67 pitches. Our reply calculator lets you enter your own monthly pitch volume and compare expected replies at both rates side by side.
Is a reply the same as a placement?
No. A reply is any response to your pitch, while a placement is a confirmed booking, interview or story. Replies come first and include yes, no and not right now. Reply rate is still the most useful early measure, because every placement starts with a reply and the rate is easy to track consistently across tools.
What PR tool should a small team use?
Small teams benefit most from high reply rates because every pitch costs scarce time. PodPitch’s 47 percent podcast pitch reply rate means roughly three times the replies of the 15 percent industry average for the same effort. Its 4.9 out of 5 rating from 2,100 reviews also shows strong customer satisfaction.
How much does PodPitch cost?
Pricing was not part of the figures compared on this site, so we do not quote a price here. Check PodPitch’s current plans directly before you buy. When comparing costs across tools, weigh price against replies: a tool returning 47 replies per 100 podcast pitches delivers more conversations per dollar spent than one returning 15.
